Spartans finish 5th at Gus Scott Invitational

Friday, April 18 2014 - Naperville North Gus Scott Invitational


The Men's Spartan track team finished in 5th place last night at the Gus Scott invite.  The finish was not what we wanted, but there were numerous outstanding individual performances.  Leading the way with 1st place finishes were:

D'Lante Dawson 100m (C), Anthony Love Shot Put (B), DeAngelo Cross Triple Jump (B), D'Aaron Williams 200m (c), Prosper Osinloye Shot Put (c), Armani Bonilla Discus (c).

There were several 2nd place finishes as well:

Curshaun Pruitt Triple Jump (A), Anthony Love Discus (B), Malik Riley Triple Jump (c), Luis Loza 800m (A), Chris Edmondson 200m (B), Marcus Tyler 100m (B).

The Spartans came away with a total of 16 season or career PR’s on the night.  Two of the most notable were Mike Samuelson in the 1600m run dropping 10 seconds off of his time (4:38) and Freshman Justin Suits opening his 3200m career with a 10:46.  The night also saw Ian Irvine drop 15 seconds off of his 1600m time (4:46) and Nick Sessoms break the 5 minute barrier in the 1600m (4:58).

This was an ABC meet with each level scoring points and winning their levels.  The Spartans host Plainfield South and Oswego on Monday.  This is also senior night.
