The Spartans had their highest finish in a long time at the Gus Scott Invitational.

The Spartans traveled to Naperville North on Friday.  The Spartans claimed the highest finish in the past 24 years on Friday, finishing in 3rd place.  That is a good showing, considering this meet is about depth of your line up as well as the quality of your athletes.  The Spartans had 2 first place finishers:  1.  Xavier Jones in triple jump (40’5”) and Victor Osinloye in Discus (152’9”  ).  Daytwone Burge finished 2nd in the long jump (20’).  Jordan Nettles finished in 2nd in the 100m (11.19) and the 4 x 100m finished in 2nd (43.99).  The team consisted of Jones, Nettles, Joe Otchere and Birley Johnson.  Third place finishers for the Spartans were: Daytwone Burge Triple Jump (40’2”), Capri Stewart (400m) 51.55 and Jorge Ocampo  (300 IH) 42.06.  The Spartans travel to Eisenhower High School on Thursday for the Terry Englund Cardinal Relays.

Dan Ford had a 5 sec PR in the 1600m running a 4:45 and Justin Suits had a PR in the 1600 as well, running 4:42.81.
