The Spartans competed at the SPC Men's Conference track meet on thursday. The varsity team finished in 7 place, but they had several good times or marks on the evening. The Spartans did have 2 conference champions. Kelvin Jones won the discus with a throw of 162'. Curshaun Pruit won the triple jump with a leap of 46'7.75". Three other SPartans earned all conference honors by finishing in the top 4 of their respective individual events. Earning his second consecutive all conference honor in the discus was Anthony Love with a throw of 140'10". The next all conference performance was turned in by Giorgio Terracciano in the long jump with a 4th place jump of 20'5". The SPartans final all conference performance was by Prosper Osinloye in the shot put. He took 4th place with a throw of 48'5.5". The 4 x 100 relay turned in a season best time of 43.39. The team consisted of Giorgio Terracciano, D'Aaron Williams, Miguel Ford and D'Lante Dawson. Mike Samuelson posted a 10:19.46 in the 3200m run (career PR).
The Frosh/soph team had its share of season and career pr's as weel. Ian Irvine shined in the 1600 meter run, winning the conference title in a time 4:40.56. Victor Osinloye had a monster PR in the shot put with a carrer best 45'11", finishing in 2nd place. He was also a runner up in the discus with a throw of 132'3" and he ran the 2nd leg of the 4 x 100m relay that had a season best time of 47.35. Ibuku Akendea placed 4th in the triple jump with a distance of 36'5.5 inches. Justin Suits had a career PR in the 3200m run with a time of 10:24.21, placing 6th. And Ezquiel Cabanas also finished in 6th place with a career pr in the 800m with a time of 2:13.13.
The Spartans are in action next friday at the Boys 3A sectional Championships being Held at Lewis University, hosted by the Spartans.
