The Spartans hit season Highs at the Individual Bolingbrook Top Times meet at Lewis University.

The Spartans traveled to Lewis University yesterday to compete at the Bolingbrook Fast Times meet.  The spartans posted some new season bests at the all individual meet.  Leading the way for the Spartans was senior Anthony Balderas (4th in the 55 @ 6.69, 3rd in the 200 @ 23.49).  Next was sophomore Eric Ibarra (7th in the 55m @ 6.83, 4th in the 200 @ 23.69).  In the shot put, sophomore Kelvin Jones placed 3rd with a season best 47'4.5".  Prosper Osinloye placed 7th with a throw of 43'5.5".  Senior Dan Quan placed fourth in Pole Vault with a career best of 13'.  Junior Giorgio Terracciano placed 5th in the long jump wih a career distance of 20'4.5" and placed 9th in the triple jump with a career best of 39'2.5".  Junior DeAngelo Cross placed 7th in the triple jump with a career best of 39'4.75".  Junior Dave Van Meerten hit a career mark with 9' in the pole vault.  Sophomore Mike Samuelson hit a season best in the 1600, with only one shoe, @ 4:52.  ophomore Matt Bush hit a career best in the 3200m @11:31.  Freshman Tony Vodicka hit a career best in the 1600 @ 5:22.96.  Marco Povilaitis opened his hurdle season with a 10.19 in the 55HH and Mitch Lafond hit 10.95 in the 55HH and 5'4" with a strained quad muscle.  Our Frosh/Soph 4 x 800 relay team hit 8:50 wtih Luis Loza and Mike Samuelson hitting 2:07, Armando Cortez hitting 2:08 and Tony Vodicka hit 2:26.  The 4 x 400 team ran a 3:47 with some runners filling in for our usual team.  The new team consisted of Gonzalo Trejo, Mike Samuelson, Luis Loza and Armando Cortez.  Unfortunately our 4 x 200 team hit some bad luck with the second runner getting stepped on and tripped from behind, going down hard.  But the bright side is he got back up and the team finished the race.  He was lucky he was not severely injured, he had spike holes on the back of his shoe.  In my opinion, the Spartans performed well in their last indoor meet of the season.  Tentatively our next meet will be on Tuesday March 26th at RHS against Joliet West and Providence.
