The varsity Spartans traveled to Lewis University on Friday. The Spartans finished in 6th place overall. Even though the finish was not what we wanted, the Spartans competed well against their SPC conference foes. Leading the way with all conference performances were: Jordan Nettles won the 55m conference championship with a time of 6.58. Justin Suits was the all conference runner up in the 3200m run with a career pr of 10:02. Rounding out our all conference athletes was Xavier Jones in the triple jump. Xavier jumped 42’6.5”. Other season or career pr’s were also turned in.In the 55m dash, season marks were set by AnthonyKitchen (7.06), Manuel Nartey (7.25), Giovanne Dejesus (7.31), Kevin Patterson (7.63), Isaias Cassarubias (7.84). Nettles finished in 7th place in the 200m and Birley Johnson finished in in 9th place. Midhun hit a career pr in the 400 (55.6). Jorge Ocampo finished in 6th in the 55hh (8.68). The 4x200 finished in 4th with a season pr of 1:34.96. Rounding out the finishers for the Varsity was Tyree Allen in shot put (5th) 43’6.5”. The Spartans travel back to Lewis this weekend for the Bolingbrook fast times meet on Saturday.
The young Spartans (frosh/Soph), competed at the indoor SPC conference championships. They finished the day in 5th place. Leading the way for the Spartans with runner up finishes were: Joe Otchere in the 55m dash (6.72), Daytwone Burge in the triple jump (38’9.5”) and Amiri Buchanan in the shot put (42’8” career pr). There were other Spartans who competed and placed. Xavier Jones placed 5th in the 55m dash (6.91). Otchere finished in 4th place in the 400m (56.45) and Jacoby Jones ran a 58.14. Elvis Quiroz ran a 2:27 .61 in the 800 and Kevin Swarts ran a 2:35.09. Dan Ford finished in 5th place in the 1600 with a PR of 4:51.99 and David Krupa ran a 5:35.59. Thomas Rocha PR’d in the 3200m run (12:16). Burge placed 5th in the 55hh (8.69 PR) and Leslie Nartey PR’d with a time of 9.41. Kahlil Blakney Pr’d in high jump (5’3” 7th) and Evan Lee Pr’d (5’1”). Burge jumped an 18’8”in long jump (4th). Sir Muhammad placed third in the triple jump (38’8”). Anthony Dolgner Pr’d in shot put 31’11”. Competing in the open 55 were: Anthony Adauto (7.61), Michael Thomas (7.68). Competing in the open 1600 were: Eduardo Fulgescio (6:00.93) and Aron Eaton (6:11). Competing in the shot put were: Ulises Gonzalez (34’4”), Roberto Ramirez (29’4”) and Anthony Dehoyas (28’6.5).
