Regional Champs

Saturday, October 26 2013 - Seneca Regional

EPGXC has won their first team Regional in school history. Then men scored 51 points to win by 43 over Sandwich. Tyler DeMarb and Jacob Ludy worked together and ran comfortable splits en route to 16:53 and 16:55 for 3rd and 4th place overall. Hunter Cobbley, Adam Ludy, and Andy Layden formed a pack of three and cruised the course in 18:34, 18:18, and 18:26, respectively. Senior Marc Hartness was called upon to fill in for the ailing Ryan Filkins and performed admirably, finishing in 19:13. Luke Barnard fought a strained abdominal muscle and still managed a 19:22 to finish the EPG team effort. I've been scouting the Sectional pretty heavily and it is going to be a good fight to get the guys through to State, we can use all the support we can get next Saturday at Oregon Park West. My calculations have that Winnebago will win the Sectional, but after that the next seven teams will all average between 17:00 and 17:20. We are going to be well rested and prepared for this meet, having trained hard through our regional, we'll see where our best gets us.

On the girls side, EPG managed to extend its season by finishing 6th of the ten teams in the Regional. Leading the way was Maddie Morrison. Vera Rosenberger passed Kathy Mudd to finish second and third for the Titans. Karly Miller was our #4 and Autumn Kridner finished our scoring. The ladies were only 20 points away from 5th and 7th was fifty behind us. We are looking for a finish in the top half next week at Oregon.
