23 Top 5 Performances at Dewey Allgood Invitational
Wednesday, April 23 2014 - Dewey Allgood InvitationalThe Men's and Women's Track and Field teams had a great showing this past weekend at the Dewey Allgood Invitational that took place on the campus of Missouri S & T. The Bearcats took a total of 23 Top 5 Finishes in the meet setting a multitude of personal bests. A few notable performances includes the Men's 4x100m Relay which finished first and moved up to 16th in Nthe NCAA. Hannah Wilhelm's toss of 147' 01" in the hammer (very close to the school record), Lynn Ford's leap of 33' 4" in the triple jump, Karis Johnson's 2:19.38 800, and Christine Cunningham's sub-5 performance in the 1500m. Freshman Kyle Kleeman had a great day setting personal bests in the long jump breaking 22 feet and the shotput. Perhaps the most notable of personal bests was LaTia Jefferson's 41 foot bomb in the triple jump. Her performance broke the stadium record and moved her up to 7th place on the NCAA list. Other event winners of the day were Megan Doty in the 3,000m and 5,000m, Blake DeLong in the 3,000m, and Clay Carroll in the javelin.
The Bearcats compete next week at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Good luck!
