Girls - 2A State Championships

One year ago, the Falcons came from a County and Regional title and finished a solid 5th in the State.  This year had a different lead-up but an identical result.  The young Falcons were led by 2 of the top freshman in the State (Makenzie Hopkins and Kathryn Hopkins), in 3rd and 8th place respectively.  Identical placing from the previous week at Regionals and Makenzie was only 5 seconds off the win after the lead runner struggled to make it up the dip and dropped from 1st to 26th in the last half mile.  Dellaney Georgiana just missed the top 25 in 28th while the other two captains, Casey Jillson and Annie Kartalia, finished in 55th and 71st.  Brianna Mays and Allie Cullison finished their first race at the tough Hereford course strong and are ready for another round next year!

Congratulations to this young Winters Mill team!  We're expecting growth and more success next year!
