The Spartans traveled to the Greg Foster invite on Saturday. The Varsity Spartans placed 4th out of 16 teams, scoring 51 points. Leading the way for the Spartans with a 1st place finish was Amiri Buchanan in the shot put. His throw of 50’8” is his best opening throw of his career. The Spartans had 2 runners up finishes. The first was Xavier Jones in the triple jump. His jump of 44’5, is only 2 inches off of his career best jump, which he achieved at sectionals last year. The other runner up was Joe Otchere, in the 55m dash. Joe clocked 6.63 in his opening race. There were several third place finishes as well. Daytwone Burge opened his season with a career PR in the 55m HH, clocking 8.49. The 4 x 200m (Joe Otchere, Kofi Owusu, Kejuan Stamps and Eriq Fandrey) hit a season PR of 1:36.07. Other notable performances were: Chris Kerwin (1st year senior) 5’10” in High Jump, Jacoby Jones 54.97 in the 400m, Dan Ford 2:04 in the 4 x 800, Elvis Quiroz 1:35.67 in the 600m run, Joe Quirk, career mark in shot put, 42’5”.
The Freshman/Sophomore group finished in 2nd place totaling 60 points, behind Oswego Easts 74 points. Winners for the f/s group were: 4 x 200m relay (Tyler Rehbock, Jayden Green, Jacquille Brown, Enoch Antwi) with a season PR of 1:38.67 and Antwi in triple jump with a distance of 40’10”. Runners up for the Spartans were Antwi in long jump, 19’10”. Kejuan Stamps in the 55m dash, 6.95. Third place finishers for the Spartans were: Rehbock in 55HH, 8.93, 4 x 400 (Christian Stephens, Stamps, Joey De La Rosa, Antwi) 3:53.68.
The Spartans will return to competition this Friday, when they host Metea Valley and Providence Catholic.
