WEEK #6 announcements
Monday, February 23 2015 - Buffalo Grove Scarpino InviteGood morning everyone,
HERE ARE THE e-mails that went out this week! One is from yours truly, Anthony La Rue head coach, and one is from our booster rep, Mike Mastrangeli. WE ALWAYS need help from parents and look forward to planning with you ANY activities to help continue the growth of the team. Every year we get state qualifiers and we would liek to continue that trend. WHEN IN DOUBT.....HELP OUT!!
From our SEHS parents boosters REP........
My name is Mike Mastrangeli. My wife, Melissa and I are the Track & Field Booster Parents and we would like to welcome you all to the 2015 Track & Field Season. We look forward to meeting all of you and having a successful season.
A parent meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the High School commons. This is a good chance for parents to learn a little about the Track & Field team, meet the coaches and ask any questions you may have. There will also be an event sign-up sheet for parents to volunteer.
We will be looking for volunteers for easy tasks throughout the season. Below is the first indoor concession date. If you can volunteer a few hours of your time to work one of these events please notify us by email with your available date. Working the concession stand is a very easy task. For every hour worked the team earns money which is used for warm up gear, uniforms and team bonding functions. It’s an easy way to raise money for the team!! The first date is below and we will send additional information as it becomes available.
- Saturday, February 28th (10:30 to 1:00) 4 volunteers are needed for this event
Throughout the year the Track & Field Team will be holding various fundraisers to help raise money for the Team. With your child’s busy school and Track & Field season schedules it’s not always easy for them to find time to fundraise so if you are able to help out by reaching out to family and friends or taking it to work to help reach our goals its much appreciated. These earnings are also used for warm up gear, uniforms and team bonding functions.
The following fundraisers are going on right now
- SEHS Checkbooks (ongoing to all are sold)
- Cookie dough sale (ends on 3/3/15)
On Monday March 2nd Lou Malnati’s in South Elgin will host a fundraising event in which they will donate 20% of the total sales back to the SEHS Track & Field team. You have to present the attached flyer at time of purchase or pick up. Let’s all take advantage of their generosity and all have a Pizza Night and raise some money for the team!!!
Thanks in advance for your time and support and we look forward to having a great 2015 SESH Track & Field Season!!!
I SENT THE FOLLOWING via Infinite Campus (or how some parents call it infinite chaos.....not that I would call it that)
STORM Parents-
This week will be a hard working week with just practices and chances to improve on their PRs (track speak for personal records in any track events). There are no meets to worry about, just getting good work in an making incremental changes in their performances. Its a great chance to work with their teammates and coaches. We do this track 'thang' together!! Our next meet for JUNIOR VARSITY athletes and a 'select few' of frosh.soph athletes will be at Buffalo Grove high school on March 7th. Feels like forever away, but it will be on us soon!!
ALL of our fundraising is in progress: The Lou Malnatis night is March 2nd, just show the flyer and 20% goes to SEHS track and field, and the Adrenaline Fundraising (Pete Ittersagen is our rep.) kick off went well and many sophomores and freshmen have sold 20 boxes already!! We sold just over 500 last year and have a goal this year of 750. We asked each kid last year to sell 15 boxes BUT HAVE lowered that to 10 because we have more kids and I wanted to keep it small this year. But still dont want a 'sophomore slump'. Our goal is to get more varsity warm ups so we can send more warm ups down to the frosh.soph level and they have the correct sizes.
From the saturday meet......we had to great contributors taking photos of our performances. Mr. Farfan, a professional photographer (though he would probably deny that fact) and Mr. Kirkby, an avid photog. BIG THANKS go out to them for showing how much we do in a meet!! The appreciation is ten fold! The coaches are VERY HAPPY with the work done at the meet. We talked about our goals for the meet and they met all of them! Please head to runsehs.com for meet info and announcements.
REMEMBER the parent and MANDATORY 'target' (PES and concussion training) meeting is on Feb 26th in B100 (which is a changed location) AT 6PM. If your athlete has not participated in a sport this year at SEHS, the meeting is MANDATORY! Either way it is a good change to learn about the sport your athlete is spending so much time doing!
LET ME KNOW WHEN THERE ARE QUESTIONS!! anthonylarue@u-46.org
