Winters Mill

Coach: Ben Brown, 5th year

2015 county finish: 5th

First meet: Sept. 3 at Brunswick Invitational

Key loss: Katie Clemons

Key returners: Dellaney Georgiana, sophomore; Emma Kartalia, senior; Sarah Meyers, sophomore; Veronica Scherr, senior.

Outlook: Many new runners should emerge for the Falcons this season and growth will be a focal point. Returning is Times first-team all-county pick Kartalia, who finished fifth at last year's county meet. "Our team is looking to surprise with our great returning/new talent and become a top team in the county and region," Brown said via email. "Emma looks to improve on her county standing as well."

Winters Mill

Coach: Dan Replogle, 10th year

2015 county finish: 3rd

First meet: Sept. 3 at Brunswick Invitational

Key losses: Justin Frock, Liam Moxley, Tim Nicholson, Taylor Russell

Key returners: Devon Caples, Sean Gore, Evan Powell

Outlook: Winters Mill took third in the county meet and Russell and Gore were the Falcons' top finishers in the 2A state meet. With Russell graduated and Gore returning, among others, the Falcons are ready to make another showing this year. "We have a strong core of excellent runners returning and we believe several young and new runners will nicely fill out our top seven," Replogle said via email. "We are excited about the upcoming season."
