Summer Running is officially over... Now what!?

Everything you need to know:

We had a terrific summer of practice... Many young men made the decision to dedicate (or rededicate) themselves to achieving their goals and moving this program to a new level.

 

Thank you to the middle school runners who participated in Summer Running.  We wish you the best of luck this season and look forward to watching you race and set big PR's.  Hope to see you back with us again next summer, with more and more friends!

 

For the high school team, we are not resting or taking a break.  Here is everything you and your parents need to know to make sure you are ready to go for the official start of the 2014 XC season-  Wed., Aug 13.

 

1.  You must have a physical on file with the athletic office.  Physicals are good for 1 calendar year.  If you need one, PNHS is offering sports physicals for $25 on Thur, Aug 7, from 5:00-7:00pm.

 

2.  You must be registered for Boys XC with the athletic office.  This can be done online!  Click HERE to register.  Do it now, don't wait!

 

3.  Captains Practices-  Per IHSA regulations, coaches may not have contact with athletes from Aug 1-12.  During this time, our captains will be leading "Captain's practices" which are team-led, optional practices.  To see the schedule for captains practices, click on the 2014 Team Calendar under the Cross Country Info tab.  Or click HERE.  You can also find the suggested workouts under the XC info tab as well.

 

4.  1st practice-  Our first official practice will be Wed., Aug 13-  2:00pm.  Meet in rom 190.  Remember, if you do not have a physical on file with the athletic office, you cannot run with the team.  Take care of this now!

 

5.  Boys XC Spirit Wear-  Order form can be found in the Doc/Links section.  Spirit Wear Order Form.  I will have a sample of each piece, size Medium, to try on at our 1st practice if you want to use that to gauge what sizes to order.  Anyone can order-  parents, athletes, families, teachers, etc.

 

6.  Run-a-thon:  We are taking the annual Run-a-thon up a notch in 2014!

This is our only fundraiser for Boys XC.  It is a one-hour run on the track.  

 

Tentative Date-  Friday evening, Aug. 29.  Under the lights.  Music.  Post-run food/drinks.

 

We want this to be a family event, so parents/ families, please come out and support us-  or better yet, RUN WITH US!  Anyone can participate to help raise money for Boys XC.  

 

Parents-  We will be asking for food/drink donations for this event if you could contribute something, that would be great.

 

Our goal is for every boy on the team to raise at least $100.  

Incentive for going above and beyond:  For any PNXC runner who brings in $300 or more, he will earn a custom PN-Distance Crew lightweight running jacket (or similar product).

 

Get out there and start now-  Ask family, neighbors, teachers, etc.  You can get flat donations or they can pledge per lap.  Our fastest guys will probably get ~40 laps in the hour.  Many guys get in the 30-34 range.

 

Official Run-a-thon pledge forms will be posted in the coming weeks.  

 

7.  Recruit!  Just because someone did not do Summer Running does not mean they can’t do XC this fall.  Recruit new guys (especially freshmen!)  Get them to practice!  Show them the Adventure Week Video!

 

Lastly, if you have any questions about 2014 PNHS Boys XC, please do not hesitate to ask.  Get accustomed to using the website, as it is our primary means for getting out info.
