The Bearcats opened up their season at the Missouri Invitational this weekend! "We were hoping for a big opener this season as we compete in our first season in the GLVC. I'm very proud of our beginnings and very much looking forward to the rest of the season," Mendez [Head Coach] said. Overall, the team had seven personal bests and two-GLVC leading times and distances.

Kristin Wykoff broke the school record in the Women's weight throw with a distance of 14.22m. Freshman Cameron James posted a GLVC leading time in the 60m dash of 6.99, and LaTia Jefferson posted a GLVC top distance in the triple-jump of 11.44m (currently ranked 5th in the conference). The Bearcats currently have seven performances in the top 5 of the conference in their respective event.

GLVC Performance List

To round out the Bearcat's top performances, Freshman standouts Cameron James and Donovan Friscia ran top GLVC times in the 60m Dash, Hannah Inyart and Megan Doty posted personal bests in the 3000m run, Blake DeLong set a personal best in the 3000m.

When asked about their performances this weekend, our Bearcats replied with several similar statements including, "That time won't stay my PR for long", "I'm proud but unsatisfied", "Unstatisfied", and "It's great, but I will be faster." I think it's safe to say that we haven't heard the last from McKendree's track team!
