Race Details
- Palatine Pack will time the race. There will be video review of the entire finish, and it will be inspected by the IHSA Meet Officials prior to any results being certified or published online.
- Race results will be printed and available for review by the coaches for no less than 15 minutes. Results will not be posted on Athletic.net until this process is complete. We ask that coaches do not share results until all coaches have had the opportunity to review them.
Course
Emricson Park is a beautiful, hilly, 3-mile course. It will be mowed and lined in entirety and flagged throughout. The finish line is the mouth of the chute. See map below for details.
This park is public, so teams are welcome to run the course any time the week of the race. It is also the host site for the 10/21 Woodstock North Regional, so the route will still be marked. Be aware that Woodstock Thunder Youth Football practices (5:30-8:00 p.m., Mon-Thu) will interfere with the start of the course.
Team Camp (“Tent City”)
Tents can be set up on a first-come, first-served basis north of the start line within the paved roads/paths. Yard waste bags will be provided for each team at the coaches meeting. We ask that you do your best to leave your area better than you found it. Your school is responsible for supervising your area and all athletes.
Awards & Advancement
The IHSA provides medals for the top ten (10) runners in each race, as well as a plaque for the first-place team.
The top seven (7) teams and the first ten (10) runners who are not members of the advancing teams will advance to state final competition at Detweiller Park. Ties for all team places except the last qualifying spot will be broken per NFHS Rule 8-2-4. If a tie occurs at the last qualifying spot, the teams tied advance.
Locker Rooms - Locker rooms will not be available at this event.
Restrooms
Portable restrooms are located throughout the park. There will be 12 additional restrooms for athletes and coaches located northeast of Tent City (see map).
Concessions - Limited concessions (water, candy, etc.) will be available.
T-Shirts - Lightning Graphics will be on site printing a variety of Sectional Meet merchandise with the names of Sectional qualifiers listed. They will be located at the east end of Tent City (see map).
Bus Parking
Buses can enter at the Jackson St. or South St. entrance and proceed to bus parking near Sullivan Field (see map). An event worker will direct you toward the cemetery exit, where buses will line up and remain parked until the conclusion of the awards ceremony, at which time they can exit on Jackson and re-enter the park near Woodstock Water Works.
Athletic Training & Emergency Services - WHS Athletic Trainer Yoon Kang will be on site all day. Water and ice will be available at the finish line. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District will also have an ambulance on site to assist as needed.
